Since 2010, EARTHDAY‍.ORG and our partners have planted tens of millions of trees through The Canopy Project <[link removed]>. From Madagascar to Mexico, we’ve worked with communities to tackle climate change, protect against biodiversity loss, and stimulate local economies.



In the Khulna region of Bangladesh, Syed plants native tropical and mangrove trees to bolster the region’s natural defenses against disasters including rising sea levels. He and his family will benefit from the restoration of marine and plant species that local communities rely on for food and commerce.



Mangroves are also being planted in India, where Ajit’s village in the Sundarbans depends on the natural storm protection that the species offers. The planting sites are strategically and scientifically selected, based on the suitability of local conditions. Scientists, local councils, and project monitors will educate the villagers about the benefits of mangroves and their impacts on fisheries and agriculture in order to help ensure high survivability and long-term success.



EARTHDAY‍.ORG understands that reforestation is one of the most important and accessible ways that people can contribute to solving the challenges of climate change and is committed to continuing The Canopy Project and investing in responsible reforestation programs internationally.
