The Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) is a proposed 303-mile long fracked gas pipeline steamrolling its way through Virginia and West Virginia. In the past few months, a federal court revoked two different permits for this dangerous pipeline because government agencies failed to properly review the project.

Shortly after a federal court denied permits for the MVP, the Army Corps of Engineers also delayed issuing a key water permit. However, these permits are expected to be re-submitted to the Biden administration for approval.

President Biden has the power to reject all permits and stop the MVP in its tracks, before construction goes any further. But only a powerful grassroots movement can compel him to do the right thing, and that’s where you come in.

Take action now: Tell the Biden administration to deny critical permits for the Mountain Valley Pipeline.

These court rulings are the latest evidence of flawed environmental and social justice reviews done by federal agencies under previous administrations. In one of its decisions, the Fourth U.S. Court of Appeals found that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service violated the Endangered Species Act. In another, the court found the U.S. Forest Service had not properly accounted for erosion near the Jefferson National Forest, where the pipeline was to be built.

The MVP threatens fresh water, land and lives in Appalachia. If the pipeline is completed and put into service, the greenhouse gas emissions will be the equivalent of 19 million passenger vehicles or 23 coal-fired plants.

The Mountain Valley Pipeline is a climate and ecological nightmare, and the company responsible for it has already paid millions in fines for hundreds of water quality standards violations.

Demand that the Biden administration reject any permit reapplications for the MVP and deny any authorizations to continue construction. Too much damage has already been done.

In 2020 President Biden denied a key permit for the Keystone XL Pipeline, which ultimately helped cancel that project. Since then, however, the Biden administration has approved 30% more oil and gas drilling permits on public lands than even the Trump administration, and recently announced plans to continue drilling on public lands.

It’s time for President Biden to be the climate president he promised to be. Tell President Biden and federal officials to stop the Mountain Valley Pipeline now!
