Dear John, Join Health Affairs for an upcoming Lunch and Learn on April 26 at 1:00 PM EDT about a study in the April
2022 issue, “Health-Related Social Needs Among Older Adults Enrolled In Medicare Advantage (MA).”
The authors linked
survey data from family physicians to Medicare claims and found no consistent relationship between burnout or callousness and outcomes for patients, in general or for dual-eligible patients.
“It is possible that burnout of physicians to some extent is associated with concern for patients, and therefore better outcomes,” they note.
For more about physician burnout, revisit an article by Samuel Edwards and coauthors about the cultural and structural features of zero-burnout primary care practices.
