Team, In the battle against climate change, California continues to be on the frontline. Last week, the Golden State introduced a plan that would phase out the sale of new gasoline-fueled vehicles by 2035, while also ramping up sales of electric and zero-emission vehicles. Folks, when California sets vehicle standards, many states follow! In the past, at least 15 states, including New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, have adopted California’s clean-car rules, further solidifying a unified front by Democratic states against climate change. To be clear, California’s proposed rules would not ban people from owning gas vehicles or from selling them on the used market. Rather, it gets at the core issue: by eliminating the sale of vehicles that run on planet-warming fossil fuels, we can begin to eliminate our dependence on such fuels.
