** Race + Power Weekly
------------------------------------------------------------
This week’s Race + Power newsletter kicks off the digital launch of NPQ’s spring 2022 magazine issue, Going Pro-Black, which features in-depth conversations with racial justice leaders. First, NPQ Editor in Chief Cyndi Suarez reflects on a divide between nonprofits and philanthropic organizations doing racial justice work. Next, Suarez defines “pro-Black” and discusses what it means for the sector.
In 2017, when NPQ went to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria, a local community foundation responded to the realization that equity was the key design factor in recovery efforts. NPQ Senior Editor, Steve Dubb, recently traveled to Puerto Rico and brings us an update about how those efforts have evolved and expanded. We also share Suarez’s original article on those efforts.
