Hi John,
On Tuesday the mining giant Anglo American held their AGM in Westminster – and we were there with our massive ‘corporate sharks’ to call them out.
Anglo American is threatening to sue the Colombia government over their opposition to the expansion of the open-cast Cerrejón coal mine, using the shadowy corporate courts system.
We made our presence known to shareholders entering the AGM to raise the voices of Colombian communities who are fighting against further expansion of the mine.
Anglo American’s corporate court case is piling pressure on the Colombian government, who are now saying the expansion may be able to go ahead after all.
But we’re part of the global movement to bring these shadowy tribunals to light, and to push governments to get them out of their trade rules. And we need everyone to pitch in!
Join in our campaign to tell Boris Johnson and the trade department not to let corporate courts block climate action.

On Saturday 21 May we’re holding a day of action against corporate courts ([link removed]) .
We’ll be putting pressure on governments to exit the Energy Charter Treaty, a giant corporate court deal which fossil fuel companies are using to sue countries over their climate policy.
Many countries are on the brink of leaving - and we need to push them over the edge before their June deadline.
Hope to see you then,
Cleodie Rickard,
