Hi John,

This year, Equality Federation launched the Trans Defense Campaign to demonstrate the unified power of the state-based movement to defeat anti-trans bills and win public support for transgender people.

Check out what we've accomplished so far and support the Trans Defense Campaign today to help sustain and build the movement.

We have run 17 call campaigns across 13 states on behalf of our state partners , resulting in nearly 15,000 conversations and over 3,100 constituents contacting their local elected officials to speak out against anti-transgender legislation. For example, we partnered with Add the Words in Idaho to direct calls to key state senators, ensuring that a medical care ban for trans youth was blocked from becoming law.

Right now we’re working with our partners in Louisiana, Forum for Equality and Louisiana Trans Advocates, to generate constituent calls to members of a key committee with the power to stop two anti-trans bills. It’s the first time either group has been able to add a paid call program to their grassroots organizing and under-the-dome lobbying strategies.

Eight state partners have used Rapid Response funding to promote and provide access for community members to attend lobby days, town halls and rallies, including providing transportation for families and social workers attending legislative hearings.

Victory! Our friends at Wyoming Equality, one of the 24 state partners that received a Trans Defense Campaign grant, successfully defeated the anti-trans athlete bill in their state legislature. A big win for the most conservative state in the country - congratulations!

Our community is strong, and we recognize the need for rest and healing in the face of ongoing legislative attacks.

So far, six of our state partners have accessed our Healing Justice Fund to support their staff, volunteers, and community members. Equality Arizona hosted Yoga for Organizers, while the Arkansas Black Gay Men's Forum hosted three events - a yoga class, a painting event, and a tree planting event - for staff and community members to engage their bodies to move through collective politicized trauma towards healing.

In total, Equality Federation has disbursed over $335,000 to our state partners this legislative session – and we’re just getting started.

Support the Trans Defense Campaign today to help sustain and build the movement in all the communities we call home.
