[1]Mandela Barnes for Wisconsin
I've got about 15 minutes of free time in my schedule today. It may not sound like much, but it's pretty rare for me to catch a break like this between campaign stops and my responsibilities serving as Wisconsin's lieutenant governor.
I know our campaign sends you a number of emails. So I would like to take a few minutes of my free time to tell you why I decided to run for U.S. Senate, and why your involvement in this campaign is going to make all the difference in this election.
Back when I first started thinking about running, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. While I had run for state offices before – first for state representative, and then for lieutenant governor – this U.S. Senate campaign would be unlike any other I had done before.
But there was one thing I knew without question. Wisconsin needs a U.S. senator who is prepared to take on powerful corporate interests and prioritize the needs of the working-class and middle-class families in our state.
That is what I will do in Washington.
But here's another thing about running for U.S. Senate – it takes a significant amount of resources. Especially when it's a race like Wisconsin, which has been rated one of the most competitive races in the entire country.
The latest polls show me in a tied race with Ron Johnson, and we expect this race to be close until the very end. So if we're going to come out on top, I'm going to need support from people like you.
So I'm asking:
Can you please make a contribution to my campaign for U.S. Senate in Wisconsin? I'm not taking any corporate PAC money, so any amount you can give will make a big difference.

The only way we'll win in November is by building out the largest grassroots campaign that Wisconsin has ever seen.
It means the world to me to know that we are together in that effort.
