According to Healthcare Finance Magazine, national drug spending grew almost 8% in 2021 and is still rising. The trend is expected to continue into 2022 with spending to grow 4 to 6% driven by price increases.
In addition to that, lawmakers have found that prescription drugs account for a significant portion of healthcare spending for consumers, plans, insurers, and the federal government, based on data submissions from private insurers.
