[[link removed]] In Memoriam: Robert "Bob" McVay
It’s with great sadness that Grand County Dems notes the passing of former County Chair Bob McVay of Hot Sulphur Springs this past Thursday, April 14, 2022, at the age of 73. Bob was Chair back in the late aughts and a steadfast volunteer in the county for decades, serving as an election judge for every election, a delegate for many cycles, and the first person to mount a BOCC run after a long stretch without Democratic candidates – and in the conservative third district on the western end of the county, nonetheless! Bob was a Navy veteran and that lifetime of service continued up to his last day – at the time of his passing, Bob was Mayor of Hot Sulphur Springs. Remembering Bob, his successor as Chair of Grand County Dems Sandy Doudna remarked, “Bob was a volunteer and a half, a real salt of the earth Dem.” A celebration of his life will be planned for this summer. Truly, you will be missed, Bob!
