Last night, I had the opportunity to talk about a few things with Seth Meyers on his show, but I knew I needed to talk about one thing in particular: Medicare for All.
Now, we’ve all seen the big corporate attack on Medicare for All, and we know why it’s happening. They want to protect their profits. We saw that coming.
But here’s what I didn’t see coming: people have started calling a lot of Bernie’s platform elitist — and honestly, I can’t fathom why they’d think that!
How could ensuring every person has access to health care be elitist? Eliminating deductibles for every family? Fulfilling the political wishes of the 66% of Americans? That’s the polar opposite of elitism.
We can have a debate on the merits of Medicare for All or free college — I’m all for that, since it’s my job in Washington. But honesty is important, and trying to delude people into thinking these progressive priorities aren’t designed to help everyday folks is just wrong.
Together, we’re building an economy and democracy where everyone has a fair share — not just a powerful elite. I’m glad to know that you’re on our side.
Thanks for all that you do,
Ro Khanna
