18 states have already legalized recreational cannabis, and it’s time for the federal government to catch up by decriminalizing and legalizing cannabis.

But we must go even further than that and remedy the wrongs caused by racist, discriminatory drug laws.

Communities of color have been devastated by decades of failed War on Drugs policies. That’s why we have to do more than just legalize cannabis — we have to make sure the communities most impacted by the War on Drugs have equal economic opportunities in the burgeoning marijuana economy.

Legalizing cannabis is a popular policy that can serve as a starting point for providing restorative justice to the Black and brown communities who were unjustly criminalized and incarcerated.
