Folks,

Today is the first 4/20 since responsible, adult-use cannabis became legal in New Mexico.

States that have legalized cannabis have seen a boom in business, tourism, and tax revenue — and a drop in incarceration. It’s important that adults who use cannabis do so responsibly, and legalization plays a helpful role in responsible use. It’s also an important step forward in ending the failed War on Drugs and helping our economy continue to grow and recover stronger than ever before.

That's why it's so important to bring this momentum to the federal level. Earlier this month, the House voted to decriminalize cannabis and expunge nonviolent cannabis-related convictions, and I've proudly co-sponsored similar legislation in the Senate.

We need to make responsible, adult-use cannabis legal in every single state. If you agree with legalizing cannabis on the federal level, add your name next to mine:

Our laws are supposed to make communities safer and stronger. The War on Drugs has done just the opposite — criminalizing young people of color, separating families through incarceration, and holding people back from new economic opportunities.

By legalizing cannabis nationwide, we can begin to address these injustices and boost our economy.

Thanks for speaking out on this critical issue.

— Martin
