This month: our Abbott Elementary bingo party and Ellen joins BronxNet to talk safety, equity

We Got Bingo! Abbott Elementary Celebration

Thank you to everyone who joined our Abbott Elementary bingo party, co-hosted by The Opportunity Agenda and NaNoWriMo on April 13. From celebrating our favorite moments of season 1 to discussing how TV shows can make us laugh without pulling punches about the impacts of economic injustice, you won't want to miss our conversation with author, activist, and teacher Aya de Leon and comedian, TV writer, and alum of the Creative Change retreat, Joey Clift.

Watch the livestream and download our #PowerofPop bingo card to critique your own favorite shows! The bingo board reflects trends identified in our latest research, "Power of Pop: What TV Gets Wrong About Getting By."

Meet TOA's Board: Sara Stuart

In our latest board profile, we caught up with Sara Stuart, long-time friend and supporter of The Opportunity Agenda. Sara is a non-profit executive and the current Vice President of Operations at the New York Immigration Coalition. In our conversation, Sara tells us about the powerful women she's met abroad, in India and Egypt, and how training with them to tell their stories shifted narratives and challenged power.

NRL Webinar: April 22

Please join us this Friday, April 22 at 2:00 p.m. ET for a conversation with Sebastian Krueger of The New York Civil Liberties Union and Jonathan Voss of Lake Research Partners. Their latest messaging research in New York will suggest frames to evoke, context to offer, and values to center in arguing for state and local separation from federal immigration enforcement. Friday's presentation is part of our monthly Narrative Research Lab (NRL) webinar series featuring the latest messaging advice in the Lab's digital library.

Interview: Ellen Talks Equity on BronxNet

On April 14, our president, Ellen Buchman, sat down to discuss public safety, economic opportunity, and racial justice with Daren Jaime, host of The Bronx Social Justice & Anti-Violence Forums at BronxNet. Watch their conversation on YouTube to hear the latest on narrative and cultural strategies to go beyond policing, respond to cultural attacks on critical race theory, and create communities where everyone can thrive.
