Happy 4/20, John!
Here’s how we want to celebrate:
Many of the civil rights-minded DAs we helped elect are refusing to prosecute marijuana possessions AND expunging past charges which disproportionately target Black and brown people all over the country. But we can’t keep this work going without you.
Black people are nearly FOUR TIMES more likely to be arrested marijuana possession – despite white people using it at the same rate.
District Attorneys have the authority to drastically reduce charges and convictions for this deeply racist practice in communities all over America.
And they are doing it! Together, we have helped elect DAs who have worked to stop these prosecutions and expunge THOUSANDS of these records.
This saves lives. This reunites families.
THIS is because of the work we have all done together. Your contributions and your support helped make those wins possible.
But we have more work to do. In order to stop even more charges, expunge more records, and build power for full legalization, we need to elect more civil-minded prosecutors who are at the forefront of this life-saving fight.
