We all agree. Andy Harris has got to go. He is a failed congressman, an inconsequential legislator, and a threat to our democratic norms. In order to beat Andy Harris, we need our strongest candidate on the November ballot. I’ve proposed a series of primary debates across Maryland’s First District - in Bel Air, Easton, Elkton, and Salisbury.

But Heather Mizeur is afraid to debate.

The voters already know why Heather Mizeur, a far-left Takoma Park politician, is afraid to debate. The last time she ran for office, Heather Mizeur scored:

  • 6.2% of the vote in Somerset
  • 11.6% of the vote in Dorchester
  • 11.9% of the vote in Wicomico
  • 14.1% in Worcester

Heather Mizeur trumpets her establishment support and large out-of-district fundraising numbers. She believes the election is over three months before the primary. She is afraid to set out her platform because she knows it is out of step with the First District voters. She needs to insulate herself from dissent in order to protect her fragile support. This mentality is what is wrong with politics today. Our politicians aren’t leaders. They live in their own echo chambers and are afraid of debate. It is true of Andy Harris and it is true of Heather Mizeur.

In a recent interview, she was asked about the fact that she earned less than 5,000 votes on the Eastern Shore. Her response: She didn’t campaign there because it wasn’t a big enough voter bloc. So what we learn is that Heather Mizeur only cares about the Shore when it is important to her political calculus. It is no wonder she is afraid to debate.

My family has been on the Shore for 300 years. I went to high school in rural Maryland.

In this contested primary, there are two options for voters. A tested leader who has served our country for decades and is ready to debate the issues. Or, a Takoma Park politician who believes she shouldn’t be challenged on her far-left ideology.

Andy Harris must be defeated in November. Heather Mizeur can’t win. I can.

Chip in $30 now if you agree.
