Friend,
Whether you're reading this email at 4:20, 7:30, or midnight, this much is true: It's time to legalize marijuana for adults in the U.S.
Legalizing and taxing marijuana would open up new opportunities for entrepreneurs. It would begin to right the injustices caused by the failed War on Drugs. And it would generate new tax revenues that could be used for schools, health care, housing, and more. That's why I've voted for it multiple times in the House.
Support for legalization is at an all-time high among Democratic and Republican voters alike. Will you sign on to my petition today to urge the Senate to follow the House's lead and legalize marijuana federally?

Legalizing marijuana for adults won't just be a boon for the economy. It will also prevent tragedies caused by the tapestry of wildly inconsistent marijuana laws blanketing the U.S. right now. Entrepreneurs in states where it is legal can make a hearty living on it – while people in other states are having their lives upended by the very same substance.
I think of Americans like Sean Worsley, a Black veteran and Purple Heart recipient who uses medical marijuana to treat chronic pain. Medical marijuana was legally prescribed to him in Arizona. But because he drove through Alabama with it in 2016, Sean endured a costly, years-long court fight that saw him in jail, in prison, and homeless.
There are countless stories like Sean's that underscore the pain we could prevent by legalizing marijuana – to say nothing of the economic opportunities we could open up.
Legalizing, regulating, and taxing would reflect the will of the people and common sense. Add your name to my petition now to show your support for federal legalization of marijuana.
Thanks,
Dean
