ATF Acting Director Demoted - New Acting Director To Be Installed

WASHINGTON, D.C. - According to an article published in The Reload on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, ATF Acting Director Marvin Richardson is being demoted and will be replaced with a new Acting Director (AD) - likely US Attorney for the District of Arizona, Gary Restaino.

An interesting move on the part of the Biden Administration and Department of Justice considering the Biden Administration has already announced the nomination of Steve Dettelbach, US Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, for the role of ATF Director.

It should come as no surprise that the Biden Administration is working diligently to stifle your Second Amendment rights in any way possible, as seen by the recent finalization of rules regarding firearm frames and receivers, and the denial of nearly 1,000 eForm 1 applications for individuals to build their own suppressor.

ASA will continue to fight our collective Second Amendment rights and stand to defend and expand suppressor ownership nationwide.

HPA Title Sponsor Sen. Crapo (R-ID) Working To Stop ATF Overreach

Senator Mike Crapo (R-ID) recently published a column on his official website detailing his work to protect the Second Amendment from ATF overreach. Sen. Crapo is the title sponsor of S. 2050, the Hearing Protection Act in the 117th Congress, and also recently signed a letter directed to the ATF by Montana Senator Steve Daines and 24 of their colleagues demanding answers regarding ATF's sudden denial of hundreds of eForm 1 applications.

Sen. Crapo is also an original co-sponsor of S.1920, the ATF Accountability Act. This legislation would create a transparent review and appeals process for rulings and determinations made by the ATF. Providing these processes would ensure that firearms manufacturers and lawful gun owners are not subject to unchecked bureaucratic rulings made by the ATF.

Sen. Crapo had this to say:

"Burdening law-abiding citizens of this country with additional gun restrictions is not the answer to safeguarding the public. As gun control advocates continue to seek creative methods of advancing their agenda, both through legislation and litigation, I will continue to oppose all efforts to weaken Second Amendment rights."
