Dear John,
Thanks to the generous support of donors like you, we're well on our way to our goal! But we need all the support we can get! Our goal is ambitious because there are so many children and families across the country in need of early learning and care resources as a result of the pandemic and the child care crisis.
Central to the child care crisis is the lack of child care workers. With low wages and insufficient benefits, it’s no wonder that turnover rates are as high as 40% in the early care and education field. Qualified teachers are leaving the profession and taking jobs elsewhere to make a living wage.
Child care is a specialized, labor-intensive service and should be respected and paid accordingly. Our youngest learners’ future depends on our country prioritizing and investing in our early education and care workforce. We need dedicated and passionate individuals to shape our next generation. People like Victoria.
Nurturing others comes naturally for Victoria Barajas, who has found her true calling as a home visitor.
Home visitors provide comprehensive supports to families by helping parents build strong relationships with their children and connecting families to the resources and supports in the community they need to thrive. |
“I tell families that I’m here to work with the family as a whole, not just the child,” Victoria shares. “I got into this work for personal reasons but working with families so closely and seeing the impact of my work is incredibly meaningful.”
Getting children in under-resourced communities access to quality early learning experiences, with caring and dedicated professionals like Victoria, is critical. When you give to Start Early, you’re helping us fight for better wages and resources for child care workers like Victoria.
Be a champion for early learning and help us meet our fundraising goal by April 27. Donate today. |
Join us on April 27 at Start Early’s Annual Luncheon,
presented by LaSalle Network, to hear from parents, early learning professionals and experts how ALL TOGETHER we can bring hope to children and families across the country, NOW and in the future. |
Sincerely,
|
