In this email, I'm going to ask you to chip in $10 to support my re-election effort. Our race is heating up, so I hope you'll let me get you up to speed and explain why your support is so urgent.

Earlier this week, elections analysts at Cal Matters officially listed our race as a toss-up. Their report confirms what we've long known -- that our 2022 prospects are looking "grimmer" after new electoral maps made the 49th much more competitive than in past years.

Here's why this is concerning:

Mail-in ballots for the June 7th primary hit voters’ homes in less than three weeks. National Republican super PACs will be watching closely to see how our campaign performs in our new district boundaries. A strong outing could scare them away. A poor showing could mean a surge in dark money spending against us.

An unprecedented field effort is underway across the 49th. Since new voters will be casting ballots for me for the first time, funding this effort will take more resources than usual.

If you tune into cable news lately, all the pundits and "experts" want us to believe that Democrats are headed for blowout losses in November. I don’t doubt for a second we’re headed for a tough race, but this grassroots team has proven capable of bucking the national trend lines before.
