The California primary is less than two months away, and the enthusiasm for Christy's message out here in CA-27 is palpable. That's because voters know how much is on the line in this election – abortion rights, healthcare, rising costs of living, housing, wealth inequality, to name a few. Christy is determined and as fierce as ever to fight for the people in this district, and she's not slowing down soon.
Canvassing events are in full swing, endorsements keep rolling in, and the momentum on the ground is unstoppable. Scroll down to see more of the April edition of our Campaign Update!
We have to keep it up to win in November, and with your help, we will.
So many children, families, and communities have been devastated by the epidemic of gun violence in this country, including CA-27's own Saugus High School in Santa Clarita. One of the survivors of that shooting, Mia Tretta, spoke at the White House recently, praising President Biden for his work cracking down on ghost guns – the weapon that left a scar on her abdomen after she was shot.
The courage of students like Mia is inspiring, but it's unconscionable that children should have to bear this burden. There are actionable steps Congress can take right now to save lives and end the violence once and for all. Christy was honored to be named a Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate and will work vigilantly for common-sense legislation to curb violence and protect the safety of our communities.
The labor movement literally built this country, we owe working people so much more than what has been delivered. Christy's committed to uplifting working class families and will fight tooth and nail to defend unions and the right to organize. She was proud to be endorsed by the California Labor Federation and will keep fighting for a fair wage and safe working conditions in Congress.
Everyday that Congress fails to act, the climate crisis becomes more dire. It's not a problem we can punt to future generations, we're witnessing the effects of climate change right now. Christy was proud to receive the endorsement from one of the most preeminent organizations on the forefront of environmental and climate activism – The Sierra Club. This moment demands urgency and action, and Christy is ready to get it done.
Christy was thrilled to be joined by the Ironworkers International Union, and so many other friends and allies for the Lancaster Canvass, BBQ, and diaper drive! Support of the working people in the community is what this campaign is all about, and what it will always be about. There were so many diapers donated that we had to make multiple trips to drop them off. Thank you to all who attended and gave so generously!
Christy had so much fun celebrating our district at several local events recently, including the NAACP Scholarship Awards, the Cesar Chavez Festival, and the Bangladesh Independence Celebration!
In case you missed it, Christy has a sweeping lead among Democratic primary voters! The momentum is great, but we have to keep it up to make sure Christy can take it all the way to November and flip CA-27 from red to blue.
