When I decided to run for San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk, I knew it would be an uphill battle.
My opponent had already been raising money for over a year, and special interests have been lining up with him. My opponent and his supporters are desperate to defeat me, because they know that I will implement new procedures and technology to ensure everyone -- especially big corporations -- pays their fair share. Recently, we’ve learned a political action committee was opened to support my opponent.
An independent expenditure with deep pockets and no contribution limits from donors or corporations puts us at a resource disadvantage in a race where we need to reach 2 million voters. It's becoming clearer every day what we are up against, and I need your help to fight back.
