Amid the global energy crisis triggered by Putin’s illegal war, it is clear that we must find new ways to meet the energy needs of Americans. Instead of focusing on long-term, sustainable solutions for the environment, however, the Biden administration is doubling back on fossil fuels.

On Friday, the Department of the Interior announced that it would resume selling leases for new oil and gas drilling on public lands. This week, it plans to auction off leases to drill on 145,000 acres of public lands in nine states.

Team, this is unacceptable. The only long-term solution that guarantees we can meet our energy needs while preserving our public lands is shifting away from fossil fuels towards renewable energy.
