John,
Racism comes in many forms. Sometimes, it’s blatant and obvious. Other
times it’s masked as a school or workplace hair requirement. The attempt
to control people’s natural hair is one more means by which our society tells
Black men, women, and children that they must conform to white standards
or be ostracized.
That’s why last month, I proudly voted to pass the CROWN (Creating a
Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair) Act. The CROWN Act expressly
prohibits discrimination based on a person’s hair.
Will you add your name to our petition to show your support for the CROWN
Act and for fighting against discrimination in all its forms?

But if you listen to the GOP’s reaction to the CROWN Act passing the House,
you’d think the sky was falling. Lauren Boebert even called it a “bad hair bill”
on the floor of the House.
We shouldn’t be surprised by the vehemence with which Republicans opposed
the CROWN Act, but it was disappointing nonetheless – and in some cases, it
was built on the same old racist tropes that underscore exactly why we need
this bill.
Hank will keep fighting to end discrimination. Will you let him know you stand
with him by signing his petition?
