Thank you for your applications!
Thank you to everyone who sent a funding application for our most recent round of funding, which closed on 20 February.

We received our highest ever number of applications - 1188 organisations applied, from a total of 90 different countries. Unfortunately we can only fund a small percentage of these organisations, despite having received a high number of strong concept notes.

We have now shortlisted the organisations which will be invited to submit a full proposal. All applicants, whether successful or not, will be contacted by email before 30 April so please check your inbox (and spam) next week if you are awaiting a response.

We will continue to include other relevant funding opportunities in this newsletter and via our social media channels (see links below).
Abortion has been decriminalised in Colombia
Congratulations to campaigners in Colombia who successfully fought for the full decriminalisation of abortion. Abortion is now available on request up to 24 weeks of pregnancy.

You can read more about the impact this will have in this blogpost from SAAF grantee partner Fundación Si Mujer.

SAAF grantee partner spotlight: Sama
Participants at a Sama reproductive rights workshop in Bihar

Sama: Resource Group for Women and Health has been a SAAF grantee partner since 2020. They are a feminist group based in Delhi, focused on women's health and rights.

With funding from SAAF, Sama has been working with marginalised tribal communities to improve their access to sexual and reproductive health services. A history of discrimination against women from tribal communities has led to unequal access to services like safe abortion. Sama monitors discrimination and denial of services, building evidence for advocacy. Over 200 women have participated in their advocacy training and campaigning meetings to demand better reproductive health care.

You can read more from Sama in this blogpost about sustaining their work during the COVID-19 lockdowns in India.
