John,
Kara is someone who isn't afraid to take on tough fights and do what it takes to make real change.
She did just that in her first term as a county legislator when — in the aftermath of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary — she passed a commonsense red flag law that keeps guns out of the hands of people who are a potential danger to themselves and others.
That's the kind of leadership the 1st District deserves in Washington. If you agree, will you pitch in today to help Kara win this race?

The morning Kara heard the breaking news about Sandy Hook, she had just finished a visit to her own daughter's kindergarten class. Watching the heartbreaking reports, she resolved that she was going to get something done to make our community safer.
She didn't accept that a first-term county legislator couldn't make a difference on the issue of gun violence. And she didn't back down when she was warned not to take on the powerful gun lobby.
Instead, she got to work and found a commonsense solution that passed with unanimous support.
While others backed down and shied away from the issue, Kara stepped up. Because what mattered more than anything was the safety of our community, and our kids.
This election is our chance to send a real progressive fighter to Congress — someone who will take action on what matters to the people of Long Island. Can you pitch in $5 or anything you can to support Kara's campaign to flip New York's 1st District?
