Hi Ocean Activist,
Can you believe water companies are still pumping BILLIONS1 of litres of raw sewage into rivers and the ocean every year?
That's untreated human waste like urine and faeces that make us sick, as well as nasty chemicals that damage the environment. Well, we're sick of it.
That's why on 22 April we're launching our Cut the Crap Appeal, when the Big Give will DOUBLE your donation. [[link removed]] Will you save the date and bookmark the appeal page? YES, I'LL BOOKMARK THE APPEAL [[link removed]]
As an Ocean Activist, your actions make a difference.
You’ve helped us call out pollution. You’ve even helped get sewage pollution into the Environment Act. Yet water companies still dumped sewage into water ways over 270,00 times last year. That’s a massive 2.6 million hours of raw sewage flowing down rivers into seas. We need ACTION NOW to end sewage pollution. That’s only going to happen if we keep piling on the pressure.
As long as the water companies keep pulling in the profits, and their shareholders keep getting richer, it's not in their interests to abide by the rules. Does it make you angry that there are still no real consequences for water companies when they pollute? That they can just absorb the fines and keep on destroying rivers and the sea? Because it makes us furious.
So mark your diary for THIS FRIDAY, and let's End Sewage Pollution. [[link removed]]
By getting your donation DOUBLED by the Big Give [[link removed]], you'll fuel our ocean-saving work and help hold water companies to account. It's time to make them:
Invest in their infrastructure to prevent their destructive practices Test and report water quality accurately, reliably, responsibly, and transparentlyPay fines that reflect the true costs of the damage they cause
