I want to share some good news, John – but I want to caution you that it comes with caveats.

According to The New York Times : America is poised to vote on the fairest and most balanced congressional map in a generation.

Now, that sounds pretty good to me! And this movement helped make it happen . But here are the caveats, and the reasons I’m asking you for a donation today:

• The fight isn’t over.
• Nothing is set in stone.

1) Nailing down 2022’s final maps is an ongoing process. Some states haven’t even finished adopting their maps yet! And Republicans are fighting tooth and nail to keep their gerrymandered maps – even after courts have struck them down! – throwing some states’ primary elections into chaos .

2) Our fight won’t end even after the 2022 maps are set. That’s because the GOP will keep trying to gerrymander, and to elect pro-gerrymandering politicians and judges!

The bottom line is this: Yes, we’ve made great progress (thank you!). But no, we can’t rest on our laurels. President Obama even said that “there’s so much left to do” on redistricting . We’re counting on you to fight alongside us for as long as it takes.

Thanks so much,
