Ultimately, the race to represent NJ-10 isn’t about progressives and non-progressives. It’s about who we can trust to show up and fight for us.
For years, Rep. Donald Payne Jr. has barely shown up for his job, taken a tepid stance (at best) on progressive priorities, and padded his pockets with plenty of corporate money.
Meanwhile, Imani has put in the work. She’s been out in our communities, uplifting marginalized voices, organizing for real progressive change, and serving as our advocate on issues from housing justice to climate change while Rep. Payne Jr. stayed silent.
Sure — Payne Jr. may have the power of New Jersey’s political machine behind him. He may have support from the corporate establishment. But he doesn’t have a shred of proof that he’s used his position to uplift our communities or deliver change for those who need it.
He didn’t even pretend to care about his constituents until Imani out-raised him in our first quarter of fundraising with ZERO corporate backing.
We deserve better than a do-nothing Congressman who pads his pockets with corporate money and relies on establishment backers to pave his path to victory.
