Last week, Governor DeSantis signed the 15-week abortion ban into law, codifying the most extreme attack on reproductive rights in our state’s modern history.
Anti-abortion politicians, like DeSantis, have been working for decades to make it harder to access abortion, with the ultimate goal of outlawing all abortions, no exceptions. This ban is an all-out assault on our reproductive freedom from Republican leadership, who have made it clear they care more about playing political games than protecting our rights.
There is no such thing as a reasonable abortion ban. We should be able to get any health care we need without shame, unnecessary restrictions, or political interference.
We can no longer rely on the courts to uphold abortion rights, so it’s up to us to elect leaders who will fight these kinds of attacks. When I ran for office, Ruth’s List was there to train and support me with resources I would've never had access to as a local candidate.
