Dear John,
My job is to be a servant for the people of Georgia’s 2nd Congressional District. That’s why it’s so important to keep my grassroots supporters updated on my campaign and my work in Washington. So, here’s what I’ve been up to the last two weeks:
1. Voted for the Relief for Restaurants and Other Hard Hit Small Businesses Act. This bill would provide an additional $42 billion for the Restaurant Revitalization Grant Program — through which 2nd District businesses have already received nearly $34.9 million in emergency assistance. It would also provide $13 billion for a new Small Business Administration grant program.
2. Urged USDA and USAID to mitigate the world food crisis Russia’s war in Ukraine may cause. As chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, it is essential that we are proactive about the ripple effects of this war — which could increase worldwide hunger by as many as 47 million people if prolonged.
3. Applauded the confirmation of Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first African American woman to serve as a U.S. Supreme Court Justice. This is a historic moment as the Court welcomes an eminently qualified jurist and grows to better reflect the diversity of our country.
Finally — a request. More and more articles are covering how defeating me is central to Republicans' strategy to winning back the House. At a debate last week, Republicans threw relentless attacks at me, attempting to twist and misrepresent my years of service. I need to be ready to set the record straight.
