Tell Congress:

"It’s time for the wealthy to start paying their fair share. A good place to start is the Millionaires Surtax, which would apply a 10% tax on incomes of the richest 0.2%. Pass the Millionaires Surtax to raise $635 billion from America’s richest families and invest that money in critical services for working families."

John,

When millionaires and billionaires pay their fair share in taxes we can afford to protect and expand Social Security and enact improved Medicare for All.

But two years ago, congressional Republicans passed a Trump-GOP tax scam that cost the American people $1.9 trillion―and ever since they’ve been trying to fill that massive hole with cuts to critical programs and services, including attacking our earned Social Security and Medicare benefits.

Now, leaders in the House and Senate have introduced the Millionaires Surtax, which places an additional 10% tax on the incomes of the richest 0.2%. If you’re an individual making more than $1 million per year, or a family making more than $2 million, you’re gonna start paying a little more in taxes.

The rest of us―the other 99.8%―won’t pay a dime more.

Already, 68,916 people have become grassroots co-signers of this new bill. Help us reach 100,000 co-signers and tell Congress that it’s time for the rich to pay their fair share. Sign the petition >>>

Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell’s plan has always been:

Step 1: Give gigantic tax cuts to the wealthiest people and corporations―about $1.9 trillion.

Step 2: Tell the American people that the rising debt―that they just created―is forcing them to cut Social Security. Never mind that Social Security does not and cannot contribute a single penny to the debt or deficit.

The good news is that by wide margins, the American people are with us. Recent polling by Hart Research shows that this new bill (S. 2809 in the Senate and H.R. 5043 in the House), is supported by 73% of voters including over half of Republicans.

Join Social Security Works and our allies and become a grassroots co-signer of the Millionaires Surtax today to make the richest 0.2% pay their fair share.

When they do, we can invest in our earned benefits for current and future generations.

Thank you,

Michael Phelan
