This year’s theme is My Silence, My Action . Where LGBTQ+ people in schools are often silenced and erased, this direct action is a reclamation of that forced silence and erasure. This time LGBTQ+ students and educators are choosing to be silent on their own accord and demonstrate the impact on the entire school community when LGBTQ+ people are silenced and erased.

Whether you’ve got an hour or just a minute, there’s a simple way for you to show up for LGBTQ+ youth. Here are just some of the ways you can participate:

* Show off your best smile and post a pic with our selfie sign on your social media handles. Tag us @GLSEN and use #DayOfSilence to join the movement.

* Tune in to our virtual Break the Silence Rally, hosted by student leaders – and surprise ✨ celebrity ✨ guests — happening on Friday, April 22 at 7 p.m. ET/ 4 p.m. PT on Zoom.

* Make a donation to help GLSEN expand programs that support LGBTQ+ student leaders as they spark change in their communities on Day of Silence and beyond.
