Great news: Governor Inslee has signed the “Move Ahead Washington” transportation package into law!
Led by Transportation Chair Marko Liias, our members fought hard to pass this legislation. And now we’ve officially made a $16 billion investment in equitable and sustainable transportation for Washington State – and we’ve done it without increasing the gas tax by a single penny.
Here’s what this legislation achieves for our communities:
- Preserves and maintains transportation infrastructure, like roads, bridges, ferries, and sidewalks
- Reduces carbon emissions by investing billions in electrification and public transportation
- Provides affordable and accessible options to get around, including a free fare program for our youth
- And creates good-paying jobs right here in Washington State
