John,

The primary election for the District Attorney’s race in Wake County, NC
is just around the corner on May 17, 2022. Local races like this one
typically have much lower turnout than national elections, so we need all
hands on deck to get out the vote — [ [link removed] ]will you consider chipping in a
weekly donation of $10 or more for the next 5 weeks to fuel COC PAC's work
to inform and mobilize folks across the county?

This election will help determine who has the power to decide who gets
prosecuted and the severity of each prosecution in North Carolina’s
largest county by population — the Wake County District Attorney’s Office
files over 100,000 cases annually.

The stakes are high — and the choice couldn’t be clearer:

Wake County’s incumbent DA, Nancy Lorrin Freeman, still hasn’t decided
whether to pursue criminal charges against the officers involved in the
shooting death of Daniel Turcios, who was killed in front of his family^1
— but she hasn’t faced a competitive primary election since she was first
elected in 2014.

It’s time for a DA who will embrace fairness and common sense reforms that
prioritize public safety for all.

We’re proud to endorse Democrat Damon Chetson, a criminal defense attorney
who has dedicated his career to fighting injustices and promoting
fairness.^2 John, early voting in Wake County begins in just 9
days — [ [link removed] ]will you commit to pitching in a weekly donation of $10 or more
for the next 5 weeks to sustain our organizing efforts until the May 17th
primary election?

[ [link removed] ]Yes, I’ll give $10 a week through Election Day!

No one holds more power in our justice system than district attorneys and
prosecutors, and for too long they've been able to funnel Black people
into prisons without any transparency.^3

When it comes to issues that deeply impact our communities — ending cash
bail, stopping anti-immigrant prosecutions, and protecting young people in
the juvenile justice system— it’s district attorneys who have the power to
transform our broken criminal justice system.

Together, we can win the real change that we deserve.

Until Justice Is Real,
