Dear Friends,
I hope everyone in Central and South Texas is staying warm as this cold holiday season approaches. I want to take the time to give you all an update on my recent work in Washington, D.C., and our region on behalf of the 15th District of Texas.
As always, it is my honor and privilege to serve the 15th District of Texas. Here are a few highlights and updates from the past few weeks.
Congressman Gonzalez Announced $374,580 in USDA Grants for UTRGV
On November 13, I announced that our district received $374,580 in federal funds for the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in order to help our small rural businesses across South Texas increase their economic development. These funds were awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development grant program whose purpose is to help small rural businesses around the country.

Congressman Gonzalez Announced Nearly $1.5M for School Safety
On November 12, I was honored to announce that our district received $1,493,168 in federal funds from the Department of Justice to help improve school safety. These funds were distributed to schools throughout our district thanks to the Students, Teachers, and Officers Preventing (STOP) School Violence Act. Keeping our children and teachers safe is a top priority of mine. I am going to continue fighting for this cause and doing everything I can to make sure our schools are safe.

Congressman Gonzalez Keynote Speaker at Veterans Day Ceremony

On November 11, I was grateful to have had the opportunity to attend and speak at the Veterans Day Ceremony in McAllen, Texas. I was honored to meet those who have served our country. I along with many Americans are thankful for the sacrifices our veterans have made for this country. Their contributions made are immeasurable.

Veterans Day Events in the 15th District of Texas

Congressman Gonzalez Urges Mexican President to Accept U.S. Offer of Help
On November 8, I published an editorial urging Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador to accept the United States' offer of help secure Mexico given the recent events and violence in that country. In my editorial I outline the need for the Mexican government to accept U.S. assistance and create a collaborative national security strategy.

Congressman Gonzalez Tours Catholic Charities Humanitarian Respite Center with Alyssa Milano in McAllen, Texas

On November 6, I toured the Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley's Humanitarian Respite Center with actress and activist Alyssa Milano. We discussed the unique challenges and opportunities we are facing in the 15th District of Texas.

Cold Weather Reminders
As winter approaches, please remember to protect yourself from the cold. Wear warm clothing, beware of ice on motorways, and bring your pets inside to shelter them from dangerous temperatures.
