I’m so proud to receive the Gun Sense candidate distinction from Moms Demand Action:
Moms Demand Action is doing the critical work of organizing to change our nation’s insufficient gun laws and protect our communities. I’ve long supported their mission — when I was elected to the state senate in 2018, no legislation related to guns had made it onto the floor in five years.
But since then, I’ve cosponsored 15 gun violence prevention bills signed into law. Just this last October, Governor Hochul signed a bill I cosponsored to crack down on the sale of ghost guns, a type of homemade gun that can be purchased without a background check — legislation that I proudly supported.
I’ll bring this same dedication to Congress and champion common sense measures like repealing the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, which gave gun sellers immunity from lawsuits at the hands of victims of gun violence. I will also support measures like the Bipartisan Background Checks Act and the Enhanced Background Checks Act of 2021.
