Hi there, John — I’m home in Illinois this week, and I have a few free minutes in my schedule today, so I wanted to take a moment to reach out to you and share an update on what I’ve been working on in Congress.

Throughout my career as a registered nurse and as a member of Congress, I’ve been fighting my heart out to ensure all Americans have access to quality, affordable health care.

Just over a year ago, President Biden signed my Health Care Affordability Act into law as part of the American Rescue Plan. This legislation helped save families an average of $2,400 a year, and as a result, more Americans have health coverage today than ever before.

But there’s still so much we can do to lower the cost of health care. So a few weeks ago, I voted to pass the Affordable Insulin Now Act in the House, capping the price of insulin at $35 a month and ensuring that millions of Americans can access this life-saving medication.

And when the time came to negotiate our government spending bill last month, I fought hard to ensure this legislation secured funding for our community. I’m proud to share that when President Biden signed this bill into law, it included $10.5 million for our district — funding to improve the quality of local drinking water, reduce wait times for mental health care, and support public safety right here in our district.

When I was elected to Congress, I promised to do everything I could to make real, tangible change for the people of Illinois — and I’ve been fighting my heart out to make good on that promise ever since.

We’ve made incredible progress so far, but our work isn’t finished yet. We still have a lot to do to make life better for Illinois’ working families, but I know this team can accomplish anything when we work together.

So today, I’m humbly asking you to pitch in to my campaign for Congress to keep this work going. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and keep fighting for progress, and I’ll need you with me every step of the way.
