We are proud to share that one of our most popular civics resources has gotten a significant update and redesign. Being an American helps students analyze our three most important founding documents—the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights—in order to understand their main ideas and their relationship to each other. It also draws their impact on U.S. history and students' every day lives. Designed for 8th-9th graders, the revised version takes a differentiated learning approach, allowing for adaptation for us with ESL students and students in lower grades. Check it out HERE.

Encourage your students to join our live AP U.S. History study sessions April 24-May 5 with veteran APUSH teacher Daniel Jocz to review the essential content and sharpen the skills they will need to succeed on the AP U.S. History exam! Students can register here to join the sessions live and ask Daniel questions. They can also watch the recordings of all of our past episodes on the website here, including our AP Government prep series from the last two years.

Is school-sponsored prayer in public schools a violation of the establishment clause of the First Amendment? In 1951, some New York schools began starting the day with a non-denominational prayer. Encourage Your Students to Join the Debate

On April 7th, the United States Senate confirmed Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. The final confirmation vote tally was split almost entirely along party lines as all Democratic senators voted to confirm while all but three Republican senators voted against her nomination, leading some to argue that the entire confirmation process has become too political.

What do your students think? Has the confirmation process of Supreme Court nominees become too political? Student (and teacher) prizes will be awarded for the strongest argument on each side of the debate. Each student winner will also be entered for a chance to win a $1,000 grand prize. Students have until 4/28/22 to join the debate!

We are less than a month away from the deadline for the MyImpact Challenge national civics contest! Have your students entered yet?

$40,000 in total student and teacher prizes including a $10,000 student Grand Prize will be awarded. Projects must be submitted through our submission portal where students can compile their portfolio, save their progress, and submit their project for a chance to win.

Make sure that your students consult the submission guidelines and rubric before they submit. Applications are due May 16.
