Fighting for Maine’s small businesses is personal to me. My parents own and run a small business that has been in our family for decades, and I spent many summers and weekends throughout my childhood mowing grass at the family business.

Working with my parents at the family business taught me the importance of helping others, working hard, and how to be part of a team. Those lessons guided me in the Marine Corps, and they guide me in Congress today.

Our small businesses are not just the backbone of our economy here in Maine, they’re our way of life. That’s why I’m proud to fight for legislation that helps support them in Washington.

Last year, I stood alongside my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to proudly pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which has created jobs for Mainers and bolstered small businesses across the state. This February, the Small Business Committee passed my bill, the Small Business Development Centers Improvement Act of 2022, which, if enacted, would increase the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) annual budget by $40 million.

John, representing Maine’s small businesses has been a personal highlight of my time in Washington and I am proud of what we have accomplished.
