There's much to do as we count down to June 18. Join us as we get better educated, make music and art, organize in the DMV and work together with our partners. Come to our monthly meeting next Tuesday April 26th to get all the details.

 

Here's what's coming up soon:

Thursday, April 21, at 8:30 pm: National Mobilization call: It's time to get into step for the Mass Poor People's & Low-Wage Workers' Assembly and Moral March on Washington and to the Polls! Come to get ideas and be inspired by fellow Poor People's Campaign activists from around the country. The first National Mobilization All-Call and Rally is this Thursday, April 21st at 8:30 pm ET/5:30 pm PT! RSVP Here.

Saturday, April 23 from Noon-3 pm: Zillah Wesley II, co-chair of the DC PPC speak at the YWCA's community rally on Freedom Plaza DC to take a Stand Against Racism. This year’s event will feature story sharing and calls to action from speakers & activists committed to civic engagement, racial justice and changing institutions, along with a community & civic engagement fair. The rally will begin at noon, followed by a community fair until 3 pm. RSVP Here.

Volunteer to Make Mobilizing Calls:

 

Wednesday April 27 from 12-2 pm and 4-6 pm DC Poor People's Campaign will be making phone calls to churches, other organizations, and individuals to recruit partners for June 18th and beyond. These are calls to groups and people who have expressed interest or have worked with us in the past to provide them with ideas and materials to help promote the June 18th Assembly and March. Partner Opportunity 

 

Thursday April 28 7:00 pm Train to join the DC League of Women Voters 411 project by Zoom.  LWVDC has established a phone line to provide essential, non-partisan voter information to incarcerated DC residents housed in federal prisons or the local jail. The one-hour training prepares volunteers to answer calls to the phone line (through an internet phone service). Volunteers are asked to commit to weekly shifts through the June 2022 primary.
