Dear John,
“Legislative advocacy takes skill, hard work and compelling ideas. But you make your job so much harder if you are not involved in electoral politics,” I wrote in the 50CAN Guide to Political Advocacy, available for purchase at Amazon or as a free PDF on the 50CAN website.

“By identifying, recruiting and supporting candidates that share your vision, you can help blaze a path to your legislative advocacy success.”

The 2022 midterm elections are just seven short months away, and primary elections are happening every month between now and September. Across the network, our local leaders and advocates have been crafting their electoral plans, recruiting and interviewing candidates and fundraising for future expenditures.

While the election may still feel far away, this is a critical time for advocates engaged in political work, and we’ll be presenting updates on our progress at the new 50CAN Action Fund website.

Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing new resources, including stories from the field and a webinar training, to create the space for all of us to grow our collective expertise on politics and elections.

Whether you’re new to this work and looking to make an impact, or you’re an experienced politico with knowledge to share, I hope you’ll reach out and join us in the work to ensure that our country’s schools are led by the elected officials who center students and their families in their decision making.
