Today is Tax Day. (If you haven’t filed yours yet you have full permission to stop reading this and go do that).

I don’t know about you, but with such high prices right now this year my taxes definitely hurt more than usual. And look, I get why we pay taxes - they help us fund programs that are near and dear to my heart like afterschool programs, salaries for firefighters and clean water programs.

However, around this time of year, I also get a bit angry. I remember that billionaires like Jeff Bezos get away with paying $0 in taxes while the people boxing up his products are taxed in full. It really boils my blood. Our tax code (and all its loopholes) was built to take care of the wealthy and the Trump tax cuts made it even worse.

I strongly believe we need real tax reform that lowers taxes for our working families and makes billionaires pay their fair share. And if that means a billionaire decides to run millions of ads to try to get me out of office, I’m prepared to face it. That’s why this grassroots team is so important.
