Voter suppression has never gone away. It has negatively affected our communities for generations, and Terri is fighting hard in Congress to ensure that every eligible voter is able to cast their vote.

The history of Alabama’s Black Belt is littered with injustices against Black voters. In the past, Black voters would walk for miles to exercise their rights, only to be turned away or threatened with violence. Right now, district lines across the state are drawn so that Black voters’ voices are drowned out and their needs are left unmet.
As we continue to push forward in this fight for our rights, it’s crucial that we remember the work of the foot soldiers of the Civil Rights Movement. Their sacrifices gave us the tools to stand up and demand change.
Today, 57 years after the Voting Rights Act was signed into law, old fights are becoming new again.
Republican legislators across our country are working hard to dismantle the voting rights for people of color, and the fight for our rights begins with Alabama.
Terri is in this fight because the right to vote is sacred, but she can’t do this alone.
