Here we go, John.
Republicans in Congress are saying the quiet part out loud regarding their legislative agenda if they retake the House and Senate. Senator Rick Scott, Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, recently released a so-called “Plan to Rescue America.” Needless to say, it does the complete opposite.
Senator Scott wants to raise taxes on roughly 100 million Americans and is threatening to end Social Security and Medicare. Team Levin crunched the numbers, and here’s how the Republican plan would differ from Democrats’ agenda:
Republicans' 11-Pt Plan:
- Raise taxes by $100 Billion mostly on low and moderate-income households.
- Middle-income households would pay an avg. of $450 more in taxes.
- Sunset Social Security and Medicare in five years.
- Shut down the Department of Education.
// Democrats' Agenda:
- Created 7.4 Million Jobs & lowered unemployment to less than 4%.
- Delivered tax cuts to 39 million middle-class families.
- Lowers costs for working families.
- Ensures the ultra-wealthy & large corporations pay their fair share.
Make no mistake, John:
Republicans -- including Mike’s opponents here in the 49th District -- want to distract from our progress with wedge issues that divide us. But behind the scenes, GOP leadership is conspiring on an economic agenda that would devastate working families. It’s critical that we do our part to keep them out of power so we can continue making progress.
Mike’s race is among the dozen most competitive in the nation for incumbent House Democrats. Keeping the House blue starts right here, so if you’re with us, chip in $3 to our campaign today.
