This primary will determine who will be up against the Republican Party to keep Kentucky’s only Democratic district blue in November, and let me explain why I’m ready for this race:

I've taken on the tough fights against long odds.

I've always seen my role in the state Senate as uncompromising on our progressive values, while fighting for the needs of families across Louisville and the Commonwealth. While serving in the Kentucky state Senate, I fought to protect marriage equality and advocated for domestic violence survivors.

When my wife Chris gave birth prematurely to our twins, they required life-saving formula that wasn’t covered by insurance. I knew the struggle of families in our situation, so I led the charge on an insurance mandate that would cover the cost of this formula for premature babies.

These are battles that I’m proud to say I’ve won. And in a month from now, I’m ready to take on the Republican nominee so I can continue the fight for people across this district in Congress.
