That’s the theme for this year’s Spring Drive. A distillation of the calls from movement every year, but especially this year with a tremendously consequential midterm elections on the horizon. 

I don’t need to tell most of you how frustrating it’s been for our movements to be so close to having a political mandate on everything from a wealth tax, to meaningful climate action, to decriminalizing cannabis, to universal Pre-K. 

Political mandates come from having the right people in office (we’ll leave that to RG Action and its partners), and having the movements to put forward the vision and the demand of what we need (and to hold politicians accountable to it!). 

For organizations fighting on the electoral ground, money is sooo much more useful early in the year, when there is time to hire with it or change a strategy.

For all organizations, including RG, having our fundraising be on or even ahead of schedule is a huge relief for everyone on staff. 

Personally, this year I’m switching from making monthly recurring contributions on my own to making larger annual contributions with my partner. Her place of work also has a matching program an added bonus. I’m committed to having conversations to align our giving, moving our money before the end of this Spring’s Drive, and doing what I can to support the paperwork for the match. 

Here’s a checklist of invitations I have for you. What would you add to make it your own? 

• Sign RG’s Redistribution Pledge with current numbers

   

  • Reach out to the people you want support from or need to coordinate with

     

• Commit at least 10% of your overall giving to RG’s national campaign partners, M4BL and CPD

   

  • Decide what portion of this giving will be electoral 

     

• Join or renew your RG membership by committing 5% of your overall giving to RG

   

• Frontload your big annual gifts this year and move that $$$ by the end of our Spring Drive! (May 31st)

   

And if you’re done with that, or well on your way:

• Support or hold down your chapter’s redistribution efforts

   

• Fundraise your community 

   

• Build up your fundraising skills (RSVP below for a fundraising training!)

As we launch our annual Spring Redistribution Pledge and Membership drive, we invite you to a series of events to help you skill up and show up for wealth redistribution!

RG College is inviting storytellers across different points on the journey to redistribution to share and reflect on their changing relationships to wealth and class privilege; we will hear both from college students who are just starting out on their redistribution work, and older members of RG who are living RG values. Whether you are a student interested in what redistribution looks like in practice, or are out of college and want to hear about how class shows up on college campuses these days, we would love to have you join us! This is a great event for both seasoned members and newcomers to RG, so bring your family and friends! We can’t wait to see you there and learn together about how we can bring RG values into our lives.

Concerned about the midterm elections? Want to connect and take action with a community of young people with wealth and class privilege to seize this political opportunity? Come through for this coworking session! We'll get to know each other, learn about electoral giving in this crucial election year, have a chance to ask questions, and move big money, early! 

RG’s community gathered a year ago to celebrate and uplift the release of the Transformative Investment Principles, a tool that guides our work to divest our resources from extraction and Wall Street and to invest our wealth, time and energy into building a solidarity economy. Join us to celebrate 1 year of putting our Transformative Investment Principles (TIPS) into action! You’ll hear stories from people who’ve put the TIPS into practice, learn more about how members have organized and developed political education together for the RG community, and help us envision the future of the Transformative Investment Principles. We want you to leave feeling inspired and supported by the RG community to take the next steps towards transformative investing and being part of the solidarity economy movement. 

Come learn the basics of transformative fundraising! This training will also incorporate RG's Transformative Investment Principles and will entail live fundraising of each other in pairs and time to sign the Redistribution Pledge and become a member/renew your membership dues. No prior experience necessary!

And remember to sign the Redistribution Pledge, join or renew your RG membership, and commit to redistribution, to belonging, to building power, and to fighting for the equitable distribution of land, wealth, and power together.
