John –

Today is the deadline to file last year's taxes. Diligent Americans across the country will be doing their part to keep our government operating and get our economy working for everyone.

But do you know who won’t be paying their fair share this year? Billionaires. On average, America’s billionaires pay a tax rate of about 8%. Most American workers pay a tax rate nearly three times that.

Between 2014 and 2018, Elon Musk’s tax rate was just over 3%. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos? He paid less than 1% in taxes. And Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett paid an effective rate of one tenth of 1%.

But it’s not just the federal tax system that’s unfair. This year Georgia passed a flat tax to give a tax break to the extremely wealthy. And who will be paying for it? Well, $75 million will be coming from tax increases on low- and middle-income families throughout the state.

Republicans want to help out their big-dollar donors with tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy. Hank wants to help all of us by making the wealthy pay their fair share.

Thanks for helping us expose this unfairness, John.
