, as people across the country wrap up their taxes for the year, we are thinking of the millions of undocumented immigrants and their households who are also paying hundreds of billions of dollars in federal, state, and local taxes nationwide.
Despite being an integral part of our families and communities, and contributing to our society and economy, undocumented immigrants still do not have a pathway to citizenship. This excludes them from accessing federal support, including vital health care, childcare benefits, and COVID-19 relief. Low-income immigrants experience this injustice especially hard.
This approach is both inequitable and misguided. Creating a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants would create an estimated 430,000 new jobs and boost the U.S.' GDP by $1.7 trillion (Source: Center for American Progress). This Tax Day, join me in calling on our elected leaders to do the morally and economically right thing and create a pathway to citizenship for all.
, urge your elected officials to recognize the humanity and dignity of immigrants regardless of status and finally deliver a pathway to citizenship >>>
Immigrants are essential to who we are as a nation and the 11 million aspiring citizens also enrich our country in so many ways and will continue to make a meaningful impact for generations to come. We call on our government to give undocumented immigrants the recognition that is long overdue.
Join me in demanding a pathway to citizenship for all undocumented immigrants >>>
