Team, This is how voter suppression works. Check out this NPR headline: And just to be clear, out of the near 25,000 ballots thrown out, over 14,000 of Democratic mail-in ballots were rejected, while only around 10,000 Republican ballots were rejected. Folks, this law had a bigger effect on Democratic than Republican voters. And that is exactly the intention! We should be expanding access to the ballot box, not suppressing it.
In Harris County, Texas — home to Houston, an incredibly diverse city — officials rejected 19% percent of the mail ballots they received. Communities of color have always been the target of these increased restrictive measures for one simple reason – accessing their right to mail-in ballots.
